Public Library Grant-in-Aid, Annual Survey and Reports

The Public Library Annual Survey (PLAS) collects data pertaining to library operations, such as financial, staffing, services, and programming. OLIS reports selected data collected through the PLAS to the Institute of Museum and Library Services to meet federal requirements.

OLIS publishes reports and analyses of data collected through the PLAS via annual comparative statistics reports.

Libraries apply for Public Library Grant-in-Aid through the PLAS. State statute establishes two types of grant-in-aid to support local public libraries in the amount of 25% of funds expended from local tax revenues and the library's private endowment.
