OLIS supports library services relating to technology by providing continuing education, and facilitating the Digital Innovation Roundtable, a community of practice connecting staff from all library types who manage current and emerging technology and provide technology instruction to their communities.
OLIS partners with the RI Computer Museum for a pilot program to lend mobile technology to libraries. Equipment available includes a 3D printer, CNC Machine, 3D scanner, robotic arm and zSpace mixed reality learning system. The RICM KitKeeper allows libraries to reserve the equipment for up to 4 weeks. The Library Learning Labs LibGuide is a growing resource that contains equipment information, lesson plans, and other useful information for using the equipment.
The Studio Rhode Next Generation Library Challenge is a grant project in conjunction with the RI Office of Innovation that seeks libraries that are reimagining their role a digital community hub for multigenerational and inclusive learning.
