Calendar Policy

The OLIS Calendar is maintained to keep library staff and interested citizens informed about meetings and programs that are:

  • open to library staff and/or library supporters of more than one library,
  • limited to certain library staff, but knowledge of such meetings can help other library staff avoid scheduling conflicts.

The intended audience for a meeting or program must be indicated in the posting. The Calendar focuses primarily on Rhode Island library events, but may include certain regional or national postings likely to be of interest to many RI library staff.

Examples of appropriate submissions include:

  • Library association and committee meetings
  • Library association and library-related conferences
  • Library Consortia meetings
  • Continuing education programs of interest to library staff
  • Programs planned for the general public but of special interest to library staff; e.g. when the subject is libraries or issues important to libraries

Examples of inappropriate submissions:

  • Staff meeting at one library
  • Programs intended for the general public

The Calendar is a participatory web document. Any LORI library staff member can submit programs and events for posting on the Calendar Submission Form. Library staff are encouraged to contribute to the calendar and to use it to schedule library events.

Submissions will be reviewed by OLIS staff and posted within two working days.
