Urban Library Roundtable
The OLIS Urban Libraries Roundtable connects staff from all types of Rhode Island libraries in a forum for discussion, peer education and continuing education about topics and issues that influence urban libraries and to examine related emerging trends and creative innovations.
Members will look outward to identify innovations that can evolve when libraries, local government and community organizations work together to transform the libraries’ roles in creating thriving communities.
To create a forum where directors and library staff can identify opportunities, best practices, current trends and approaches to challenges.
Roundtable participants will:
- Identify key partners including community organizations, government, and businesses to engage with for an exchange of knowledge, experience and forward-looking perspectives.
- Share information about best practices and support the development of relevant responses to urban library issues.
- Identify educational and professional development needs, determine topics of mutual interest, identify any outside presenters that OLIS can engage for educational programs, and participate in the planning of programs.
- Initiate, suggest or sponsor sessions on topics related to urban libraries for OLIS Continuing Education programs or RILA conferences.
