Special Collections Roundtable

The Special Collections Roundtable connects library staff who have responsibility for the care and access of unique or rare manuscripts, records, books, audio and/or visual materials, local history and other special collections, for purposes of discussion, peer education and collaboration. Meetings are held 4 to 6 times a year and upcoming meetings are listed on the current OLIS Continuing Education schedule.

Membership in the RI Special Collections Google Group is open to librarians and archivists whose primary responsibility is special collections and/or archives in RI institutions. Join the Special Collections Google Group Forum or for more information, please contact Donna DiMichele, Library Program Manager. Members may post to the list.

RI Preservation & Heritage email list

If you are a staff member or volunteer in a RI library, historical or preservation society, museum of any type, or other cultural heritage organization, you may ask to be added to RI Preservation & Heritage list which is managed by OLIS. Join the Special Collections Google Group Forum or contact Donna DiMichele, Library Program Manager. This list is used by OLIS to communicate information about grants, training, and other opportunities. Members cannot post to the list and all member addresses are kept private.

The Basics of Archives online course is designed to give organizations and individuals who are responsible for the care of historical records an introduction to the core aspects of managing and protecting historical records collections, using appropriate principles and best practices. There is a fee for the course.
