OLIS Gathering Community Input

Focus Groups

You are cordially invited to participate in one of two focus groups which will provide input to OLIS’ strategic plan. The two focus groups are open to all members of the statewide library community.

The two sessions are taking place on:

  • Friday, March 17 from 10:00 to 11:30 am at the North Kingstown Free Library, R.S.V.P.
  • Monday, March 20 from 2:00 to 3:30 pm at the William Hall Library in Cranston, R.S.V.P.

OLIS has engaged the consulting group ESC of New England to conduct the focus groups. The focus groups will respond to questions that look ahead to the services and programs that OLIS could consider over the next five-year period. OLIS staff will not participate in the groups, so that all participants may speak freely.

If you want to participate in a focus group on either date, please R.S.V.P. online as soon as possible, but no later than end of the day on March 10 for the session scheduled for the 14th or by March 15 for the session scheduled on the 17th.

OLIS is also offering the opportunity for the greater library community to provide input about its future course through an online survey which is available until March 17.

OLIS has engaged ESC of New England to conduct an environmental scan. As part of that process, ESC is conducting a survey to best evaluate the current and future service needs of RI libraries.  The information received from this survey will help OLIS develop their strategic plan and best direct its resources and funding over the next five years.

You are welcome to participate in a focus group and/or to complete the survey. The survey collects different information than that gathered in a focus group.

With data from the survey, focus groups and other sources, ESC of New England will provide a profile of the RI library community which OLIS will use to prepare its new strategic plan.

We hope that you will participate in a focus group and/or survey, as we believe you can provide valuable insights on OLIS services and programming for the library community. OLIS appreciates your time and effort in this matter. We know your time is in short supply, but we hope that you know that we sincerely value your contributions.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact either Karen Mellor, Chief of Library Services, or Donna DiMichele, Library Program Manager.
