Scholarships Awarded to Attend Research Institute for Public Libraries
OLIS has awarded four scholarships to public library staff to attend the Research Institute for Public Libraries (RIPL) August 14-17, 2017 in Newry, Maine. RIPL is hosted by the Maine State Library and will include 50 participants from across New England.

The 8th annual Kids Reading Across Rhode Island program kicked off at the State House on Saturday, May 13th. Authors Sarah Weeks and Gita Varadarajan were at the lively event that included traditional Indian dance, a visit from Paws, and activities from public libraries and RI organizations.

The 2017 RI Children's Book Award Winner is Sisters by Raina Telgemeier. This year, 86 schools and public libraries throughout the state submitted votes from 6,764 children in grades 3 to 6 who read at least 3 titles from the list of 20 nominees.
