[January 9, 2015] The Library of Rhode Island (LORI) is the multi-type statewide library network which operates to foster and facilitate collaboration among member libraries. The principle guiding documents for LORI are the LORI Standards (2003) and the Rhode Island Interlibrary Loan Code (2002). In May 2014, the Library Board of Rhode Island, OLIS’ advisory body, created an ad hoc committee to oversee the preparation of new LORI Standards and Regulations and new LORI Interlibrary (ILL) Loan Code.
The LORI Standards and Regulations and the LORI ILL Loan Code have been revised to reflect 21st century resource sharing methodologies as well as to continue to assure best practices for all types of libraries. Drafts of the documents are ready for feedback from stakeholders in the RI library community and are available in PDF format:
Feedback will be collected in the following ways:
Three Stakeholder meetings are scheduled as opportunities for the multi-type library community to discuss and ask questions about the proposed LORI Standards and Regulations and the proposed LORI ILL Code. Library personnel and other stakeholders with a relevant interest in the outcomes of the LORI Standards and ILL Code are welcome to participate in the Stakeholder meetings.

OLIS prepared a survey to allow respondents to comment on the proposed LORI Standards and ILL Code. You are encouraged to share the survey tool with library personnel and other stakeholders with a relevant interest in the outcomes of the revised LORI Standards and ILL Code.
After the closing of the survey on February 6, the Committee will convene to review the feedback from the survey and stakeholder meetings. The Committee intends to present a completed draft to the Library Board of Rhode Island in March for final approval.
