Access to World Book Resources
Recent changes to the World Book super home page have resulted in access issues for Verizon FIOS customers and out-of-state Rhode Islanders. These users must temporarily use a different link for access.

A temporary stay of Governor Carcieri's first shutdown day on Friday means that state government and OLIS will be open regularly scheduled hours on Friday, September 4.

State Fiscal Crisis Brings Shut Down Days to OLIS
OLIS will be closed 12 days between Sept. 1, 2009 and June 30, 2010; the first shut-down day is Sept. 4. OLIS staff will not be available on these days, but automated online services and delivery to non-state libraries will continue.

E-rate Application Web Site Down for System Upgrade
September 1 at 5 p.m. EDT is the last day and time to submit any online forms or to interact with USAC database until the upgrade is completed which is expected to happen on September 14 at 9 a.m. Details at the USAC web site.

LORI ILL Implementation Update - July 29, 2009

Be Creative @ Your Library
Summer Reading imageThe 2009 children's Summer Reading Program which begins in June, encourages children to "Be Creative @ Your Library." Now in its 32nd year, this cooperative effort between OLIS and Rhode Island public libraries promotes reading during summer vacation.

Relais Enterprise for LORI ILL
Relais Enterprise ILL hosted service is selected to replace the LORI ILL forms currently hosted by OLIS. The state-wide implementation will take place before the beginning of the 2010 school year.

May 1 is the day for a national effort to prepare for disasters. On MayDay 2009, Protecting the Past RI is launching dPlan-RI, an online disaster planning and recovery template for use by libraries and other state cultural heritage holders.
