OLIS has acquired and makes available a number of OverDrive-compatible MP3 players for Ocean State Library staff. The purpose of this offer is to provide an opportunity for OSL staff to become familiar with the digital audiobook technology. OSL libraries offer downloadable OverDrive titles at no cost to RI residents. The players can be checked out through the OSL Millennium client. Records of the MP3 players can be found in Millennium, but they are suppressed in the web-based OSL catalog. Loan period for these players is 3 weeks and can be renewed. OSL library staff may place a hold on the players by searching the title field for "Creative Zen" or "Sansa."

When checking out a player to a staff’s OSL library card, you will be prompted to "override checkout" since these items are for library use only. You may return the players through the LORI delivery system. When you do, please be sure to include all components that came with the players and place them securely back into the packaging they arrived in.

OLIS does not provide instructions on how to use these players. Borrowers need to supply their own earphones.
