[June 4, 2009] The Rhode Island Office of Library and Information Services is a MayDay prize winner in Heritage Preservation's 2009 MayDay prize drawing.
OLIS was among the 45 organizations that submitted descriptions of their MayDay activities to the Heritage Preservation. OLIS was awarded two 4-in-1 Emergency Flashlights. Each flashlight contains a FM radio, emergency alarm, and cell phone charger. OLIS offers free training sessions in May and June for dPlan-RI, an online template to help collections-based cultural institutions develop a disaster plan.

The three other prize winners are the Kingman Museum in Battle Creek, MI; the Elkhart County Historical Museum in Bristol, IN; and the Intermuseum Conservation Association in Cleveland, OH.
