Providence Business News, 3/15, reported that the Rhode Island Family Literacy Initiative, RIFLI, was named the Eastern Regional winner of the Verizon Tech Savvy Award, which is a joint creation of the NCFL, former Iowa First Lady Christie Vilsack and the Verizon Foundation. The award are designed to encourage schools and community-based non-profits to create programs that demystify technology for parents, enabling them to better guide their children. RIFLI will receive $5,000 for it's program.
RIFLI, a multi city/town collaborative effort based at the Providence Public Library, has received support through of LORI LSTA Grants for $45,000 to $65,000 annually for the past ten years.
