The transition for LORI email server and the FirstSearch login applications will take place officially on June 13, 2007.
108 libraries elected to have their LORI ILL email forwarded to another email address. These libraries have been contacted through email and do not have to make any change for the new email service.
The new LORI email service offers options of email access through POP mail or a hassle-free web mail. Libraries will receive the URL for web mail access and the set up information for configuring a POP mail software on June 11, 2007.
Not sure which option work for you? Consider the followings:
If you answer “Yes” to any of the above, it is suggest that you choose the web mail interface. All that you need for this new email to work are the correct URL, valid user id and password. The information will be provided to you on June 11.
If you are comfortable with the POP mail technology and prefer the convenience of organizing mail from your PC, instead of a remote mail server, POP mail will be ideal for you.
Another bonus of this new email service is the freedom to send mail from anywhere with Internet access. For security concern, current LORI email users receives mail freely but have to limit the send mail activity within one’s library building. The new service does not impose such restriction to its user.
FirstSearch login page and the new LORI user registration page will have a different URL. We will provide the information on OLIS home page on June 13, 2007.
