At the Library Board of Rhode Island meeting on February 27, 2006, the Board’s Committee on Planning and Budget recommended increasing the maximum eligible square foot costs for the Public Library Construction Reimbursement Program. The Committee recommended increasing the maximum eligible cost per square foot for library construction and renovations by $50 in each category. This would increase the maximum eligible cost for new construction to $200 per square foot and the maximum eligible cost for renovations to $175 per square foot. The current maximum eligible costs for the Public Library Construction Reimbursement Program are $150 for new construction and $125 for renovations.

The Board has taken the recommendations under consideration and is expected to vote on the proposal at its next meeting, which is scheduled for April 24, 2006. The agenda for this meeting will be posted on the Library Board of Rhode Island website.
