The management of LORI ILL is an issue for OLIS. Having Kelly Lima handle LORI ILLs as she currently does has become too expensive. Some libraries do not check their LORI email so requests just dead-end. Requestors have no way to track their requests. RELAIS is a product that could solve these problems. A demonstration of RELAIS was conducted at the December meeting. Members of the committee who attended the demonstration felt the product was complete and user friendly. RELAIS would allow for searching three catalogs in real time. Requests would be timed so if a library did not act in a timely manner the request would be forwarded on to the next library. The requesting library would would be able to see the progress of its request throughout the system.
The committee agreed that RELAIS was a product that can do all the things wanted in an ILL management product. The next step is to determine pricing.
Chaichin agreed to work up a set of preliminary questions concerning the software and circulate it to members of the committee for input. The questions might address initial set-up, training and support. The final questions would then be sent on to RELAIS to assist in determining the price for the product.
