FirstSearch is an fee-based online service that provides access to a wide range of reference databases. OLIS subscribes to the service on behalf of the member libraries of the Library of Rhode Island (LORI) Network. Library staff who work in LORI Network libraries with a valid LORI account can use the service.
Using FirstSearch for citations --
Using FirstSearch for full-text -- full-text is available in most of the databases. Check this lists for more information.
Using FirstSearch for ILL -- when a citation is found but the item is not available locally, an ILL may be placed and forwarded to the OLIS ILL Clearinghouse.
If you have trouble logging on to FirstSearch with your LORI Username AND your LORI password is more than 8 characters, try using just the first 8 characters. If you still have problems, call Chaichin Chen at 574-9307.
If you do not have a username and password please register on LORI. The library's ILL account will not log you into FirstSearch. Only individual library staff accounts are valid.
