Studio Rhode

The Studio Rhode Next Generation Library challenge is led by the Office of Library & Information Services, in conjunction with the RI Office of Innovation. It provides Rhode Island libraries an opportunity to learn about using innovative technology to provide critical and much-needed library services to their communities.

Next Generation Library Challenge

All Rhode Island libraries were invited to apply for an opportunity to build a next generation digital hub and to leverage the StudioRhode framework to address the needs of their communities. For the Challenge, applicants proposed how their library would leverage the Next Generation framework to reimagine their role as a digital community hub for multigenerational and inclusive learning. Two libraries were selected to recieve a donation of technology equipment and resources including professional services from Apple, Inc with additional funds matched by the Carnegie Foundation. A second round of Studio Rhode Next Generation Library Challenge grants were awarded that reimagined the way they approach community challenges and program delivery. Four libraries received grants for sustainable, impactful projects that focus on community engagement, technology, education or key issues facing the community and apply an innovative approach.
