[September 1, 2016] The Office of Library and Information Services is pleased to announce that Providence Public Library (PPL) will continue to host AskRI in 2017 and 2018. Beatrice Pulliam, Director of Technology & Information Services at PPL, will continue as Project Coordinator; Stacie Parillo, Digital Projects Manager at PPL, provides technical assistance, marketing materials and programming. Online reference assistance is provided by PPL reference staff via email and chat. For a complete list of services, visit AskRI.
Due to budget constraints, subscriptions to Tutor.com (Homework Help RI) and HeritageQuest have not been renewed and are no longer available through AskRI. Tutor.com services ended in July 2016 and HeritageQuest is no longer available as of September 1, 2016. AtoZ databases, Learning Express, Mango Languages, World Book encyclopedias, and EBSCO continue to be available through AskRI. EBSCO resources available include Academic Search Elite, Masterfile Premier, Auto Repair, Biography Reference Center, Consumer Health Complete, History Reference Center, Literary Reference Center, NoveList, and Points of View. All resources are available remotely to all Rhode Islanders and in libraries. Libraries are encouraged to link to AskRI and may link to individual AskRI resources on their website. Linking information is available on AskRI under the "Librarians & Educators" tab.
OLIS requests that libraries update their websites and remove links to Tutor.com and HeritageQuest unless your library has an individual subscription to these products.
