100 x 66px, 2.95 kb [December 23, 2005] - The Office of Library and Information Services and the Providence Public Library are pleased to announce the launch of AskRI.org, the website for Rhode Island’s Statewide Reference Resource Center. AskRI.org brings together the many resources and services that the Statewide Reference Resource Center provides to RI residents and RI libraries, including the new World Book Online Reference Center subscription for all public library cardholders in Rhode Island. The site will be open for business starting December 27, 2005, but is currently available for previewing.
At AskRI.org, users can connect with the Ask a Librarian service via email or chat. This service, previously featured only on RI.gov, is staffed by Providence Public Library reference librarians. At AskRI.org, users can also access the World Book Online Reference Center using their RI public library card. The World Book Online Reference Center includes over 45 databases. Other AskRI.org links connect users to the diverse resources and collections at the Providence Public Library, along with links to other useful reference sources online, including RI government information.
We invite you to visit AskRI.org at http://www.askri.org and check out all the resources available. Take particular note of the Resources for Rhode Island Libraries, a list of services offered specifically to LORI member libraries. That page is located at http://www.askri.org/libraries.html
Once you’ve reviewed the resources available at AskRI.org, we think you’ll agree this is a great resource for your patrons. We invite you to add a link to your website home page and encourage you to promote this service to your library patrons.
