Spanish Language Outreach

Library Services for the Hispanic/Latino Community Sub-Grants

 

$1,000 -- Pawtucket Public Library (Library sending 3 or more people to the training)

$500 -- East Smithfield Public Library ( Library sending 2 people to the training)

$500 -- Cranston Public Library

$500 -- North Providence Public Library

$500 -- Exeter Public Library

The Raffle was held at the final Spanish Language Outreach program on July 17, 2006. The panel members, Victor Mendoza, Mayra Morel, and Carolina Baque Bernal chose folded papers containing the names of the libraries sending 3 or more attendees, for the $1,000 prize, and 2 attendees for the $500 prize. Grant funding allowed for 3 additional prizes of $500, 2 from all libraries sending 2 or more people, 1 for libraries represented at this final session.

These funds must be used to support library outeach activities to Hispanic/Latino Community. Suggested uses are library materials in Spanish, computer classes in Spanish, signage in Spanish, programming for the Spanish community or for costs for Hispanic/Latino holiday programs/festivals. Grantees will be expected to share the plans and results of the funding/program with the rest of the RI Library Community through a brief final report, and participation in the online Progress & Support Sessions held in conjunction with the Spanish Language Outreach Workshops.
