library and addition Rogers Free Library
A view of the existing library and the addition to the north (right side), from across Hope Street. The most patriotic town in the country, Bristol sports a red, white and blue line down the center of its main street 365 days a year. See a more recent view of the addition.

The addition
Steel outlines the addition. Large windows will blend in with the storefronts of Hope Street, reminiscient of the old furniture building. Note the steel beams in the center which will support a roofline that echoes the existing library. See the nearly completed version.
The connector
The connection between the existing library and the addition will serve as the entrance to the building on Hope Street. Upon entering the building, visitors will see the exposed brownstone of the old building on their left.

Harborside
The addition is wrapped in insulation; the masonry enclosure (left) is the rear emergency stairwell. Patrons will be able to park in the lot behind the library and enter via the Harborside entrance. The top floor, housing reference and non-fiction, provides stunning views of Bristol Harbor. The middle floor will contain adult fiction, YA and the circulation desk, while the ground level will house the children's library and meeting room.

Existing library, connector & garden
The Harborside face of the library will provide a full entrance through the connector (right of yellow). The garden that was behind the existing library will be recreated following construction. Patrons entering Harborside will find the children's room on their left in the addition and Technical Services and staff areas on the right, on the ground floor of the old library. View the garden area before construction began.
