Annual Report and Comparable Statistics

The Annual Report is a survey of statistical library data including finances, personnel, programs and services. Data is collected via OLIS' contract with Bibliostat and then sent to the appropriate state and federal agencies.

The Comparable Statistics for Rhode Island public libraries are compiled from the Annual Report.

Children's Services

Continuing Education

Construction Reimbursement Program

The Public Library Construction Reimbursement Program reimburses up to 50% of the eligible costs for construction and renovation projects.

Delivery

  • Delivery Service

    For questions regarding initiating delivery service or adding stops to service, problems with or comments on the service, and the tracking of lost materials. Maintains a list of delivery codes as well as other essential information about each library. Changes in library delivery information should be reported at this number.

Early Literacy Projects

Pland and promotes early literacy projects including the Mother Goose Programs, the Transition to Kindergarten calendar, and resources for story times and outreach to parents/providers.

E-Rate

Federal Grants(LSTA)

Grant programs supported by the federal Institute of Museum and Library Services, Library Services and Technology Act funds. The grants are awarded as state agency subgrants by OLIS.

  • Literacy Grants

    Grant program to initiate or develop library literacy services that demonstrate well-designed collaboration with new or existing partners in and outside the library network.
  • LORI Grants

    Funds projects that contribute to resource sharing among LORI libraries. Priority is given to cooperative projects involving more than one library, and to projects that address sharing resources and holdings information online.

    LORI Libraries without an OCLC membership may request materials from libraries outside of LORI via the ILL Clearinghouse at OLIS. OLIS accepts all citation requests including those you are unable to verify.

The Library Board is composed of seventeen members, fifteen of whom are appointed by the Governor to represent various groups and interests related to library services, as well as two ex officio members who represent Elementary and Higher Education.

LORI Network Services

LORI is Rhode Island's statewide, multitype library network. It includes public and private school, academic, and research libraries; public libraries; state and institutional libraries; and special libraries. Network Services supports resource sharing services including ILL, OCLC Clearinghouse, and Delivery. It facilitates communication among the staff of LORI libraries through e-mail accounts, training, and web services. Network Services manages LORI Membership Standards and LORI Grants.

Media Services

The OLIS Media Resource Center provides support to libraries, library organizations & state agencies by providing Video Over IP for distant meetings and distant learning, video production for cable television and internet streaming and photography.

State Grant-in-Aid Applications

The state of Rhode Island reimburses a percentage of local expenditures to cities and towns for public library services at qualifying libraries.

TBP is a general library collection of books and magazines in alternate formats, such as cassette and braille. Eligible individuals and institutions may apply for service. All materials are loaned free of charge and sent "Free Matter" through the U.S. mail.
