Highlights from the Kids Reading Across Rhode Island Celebration
The State House was rockin’ on Saturday, May 19th with the kick-off celebration of the 9th annual Kids Reading Across Rhode Island (KRARI) program. Celia C. Pérez, author of the 2018 KRARI selection The First Rule of Punk, signed books, fielded questions from the KRARI Jr. Press Corps, and addressed children and adults in the Governor’s State Room. The kick-off also marked the beginning of the 2018 statewide Summer Reading Program, “Libraries Rock!”

2018 Kids Reading Across Rhode Island Kick Off
Kids Reading Across Rhode Island (KRARI), Rhode Island's One Book, One State community read program for kids, is kicking off its 9th year on Saturday, May 19th 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Join us at the State House and meet Celia C. Pérez, author of this year's KRARI selection, The First Rule of Punk. Each family will receive a free copy of The First Rule of Punk that they can have signed by the author. 2018 RI Children's Book Award Winner and 2019 Nominees Announced
The 2018 Rhode Island Children's Book Award winner is Wish by Barbara O'Connor! This year 109 schools and libraries submitted votes from 6,597 students in grades 3-5 who read at least 3 titles from the list of 20 nominees.

NLS Launches Video Promotion for Talking Books
The Library of Congress’s National Library Service for the Blind and Physically Handicapped (NLS) has launched a major outreach campaign to educate the public about the free services it provides to U.S. residents with visual impairments and other disabilities. Through the RI Talking Books Library (TBL), qualified RI residents can apply to the program by filling out an Application.
