2018-2022 Strategic Plan Development

The Office of Library and Information Services completed the development of its comprehensive strategic plan for the years 2018-2022 in June 2017. The plan will guide the work of OLIS over the next five years and serves as the basis of the 2018-2022 Library Services and Technology Act (LSTA) Five-Year State Plan required by the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) Grants to States Program. The LSTA Five-Year State Plan was submitted to IMLS on June 28, 2017 and went into effect on October 1, 2017.

LSTA Five-Year State Plan 2018-2022

The LSTA Five-Year State Plan encompasses all activities and services at OLIS that are supported in part or in whole by federal funds. It does not include OLIS programs that do not meet the purposes and priorities of LSTA and the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) Grants to States Program. As such, activities such as State Aid to Libraries and Construction Reimbursement are not included in the Five-Year State Plan.

The Library Board of Rhode Island approved the final draft version of the OLIS Five-Year State Plan for the expenditure of LSTA funds on June 12, 2017 and was submitted to the Institute of Museum and Library Services for acceptance. Following acceptance by the IMLS in September 2017, it was posted on the OLIS website and went into effect on October 1, 2017.

The framework of the OLIS comprehensive strategic plan is the basis for the LSTA Five-Year State Plan and includes all OLIS activities. The comprehensive strategic plan will be finalized in the Summer of 2017.
