The Library Board of Rhode Island approved the OLIS Library Services and Technology Act (LSTA) Five-Year Plan on June 12, 2017. The plan was submitted to the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) State Programs Office in June, 2017 and accepted on September 24, 2017.
The Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) requires that the Office of Library and Information Services submit a plan to set broad strategic direction for the use of Library Services and Technology Act (LSTA) federal funds, to inform Rhode Island libraries of its direction, and to meet statutory requirements. A Five Year Plan (for the federal fiscal years 2018-22) was submitted to the IMLS and approved by Director Kathryn Matthew in September 2017. Director Matthew wrote that the plan: "documents the need for and impact of LSA funds in the communties you serve. It is an excellent framework for the future . . ."
